In accordance with article 92 of  Código de Comercio  (spanish version), modified by Law 1727 of 2014, an Affiliate is a merchant, whether a natural or legal person, that has requested and obtained such status by meeting the requirements and conditions established by the law and its regulatory provisions, and that enjoys certain rights, benefits and preferential services as a result of paying an additional, voluntary payment which is in all cases a payment different from that corresponding to the Merchant's Certificate.
